Meet Diane, an inspiring painter and graphic designer, who caught our eye with her endearing interpretation of shape, colour, female form and KM Shoes.
Following studies in the South of France, our KM muse, painter Diane Dal-Pra spent time in Berlin and Bordeaux using the time to build up creative relationships and expand on her personal projects before recently settling in Paris. “I want to enrich my work, and develop from new encounters and practices...it’s difficult to dream of a better city for inspiration and stimulation” The influence of this environment is evidenced in the rich colours, strong forms and bold shapes which make up her work.
Many of Diane’s pieces feature strong female figures. Whether grouped or individual, her perception and presentation of the female form is welcoming and fascinating. “Painting women has always been the heart of my practice” She explains. The composition of the depicted women shows clear vibrance and an identity, the crispness in the work’s finish communicates the bridge between Diane’s creative backgrounds. “Graphic design is a practice that I studied, I learned how to handle it. Whereas, painting is a passion which has accompanied me since childhood. I try to combine both.” The blend of her skills is clear, but Diane explains how the composition, colours and forms are always determined by the original image or subject.
Whilst she continues to build her base in Paris as a painter and Art Director, Diane is exploring and continually expanding her library of inspiration “what I would like to transcribe is the capture of suspended moments, where lights, colours and attitudes say something together” We can only hope that it won’t be long before the simple pencil sketches she begins each piece with will become more vibrant, harmonious pieces for us to admire. “ Adventures are coming” Diane promises.
